The mean body mass index (BMI) of the patients with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome was more than that of the patients with unilateral carpal tunnel syndrome (t = 6.84, p < .001). Anatomy of the Carpal Tunnel Across the palm side of the wrist is a band of ligamentous tissue. Along with wrist bones, there are nerves and blood vessels that run underneath this band, on their way from the arm to the fingers. When this band becomes swollen, as it does in response to forceful repitition, it presses on the structures beneath it, especially the nerves. This is what causes the pain of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Desktop Computer Twenty four patients with root avulsion of brachial plexus were treated with the contralateral C7 root transfer. Decreased sharp point sensation was found on thumbs in 20 cases (83.33%), on index fingers in 14 cases (58.33%), on middle fingers in 8 cases (33.33%), on ring fingers in 3 cases (12.5%), on little fingers in 11 cases (45.83%), on the radial side of forearm 9 cases (37.5%), on thenar area in 12 cases (50%), and on hypothenar area in 8 cases (33.33%). No patient had normal sensation after the seventh cervical root transfer. Sensory abnormalities disappeared within three months in all except one patient who still had numbness more than six months after the operation.
