find what you are looking for. For example, if you are looking
for a meal that contains under 500 calories, in the Nutritional
Information section you can simply select
“calories”, “less than”, type in 500,
and then click search. All the meals that contain under 500
calories will then be brought up in list and you can order your

Another trick for the health conscious is to use only half
the amount of sauce provided. Our meals are packaged with
plenty of sauce to give you all the flavor possible, but the
sauces also contain the highest amounts of calories, fat, and

Chef Scott recently decided to play with fire in the Home

love the sausage in the Seafood Jambalaya meal. How is it
made The andouille sausage we use in the Seafood
Jambalaya comes from our friends at the North Country
Smokehouse, a local company that has been in operation for over
75 years. Our own chef Scott frequently visits the Smokehouse
and is happy to share how they prepare it. "The sausage is
spiced with black, white and red pepper, and then smoked for
several hours over a cool burning maple wood and corn cob fire
to get the mixed flavor of smoke and spice. We strive to use
ingredients that come from local businesses who take pride in

comfortably. If you would like to indulge a little more into

will bring you to a page where you can enter exactly what
you're looking for! For example, if you are looking for a
meal that has under 20 grams of fat, under nutritional
information, choose 'total fat' from the drop-down
menu, and then is 'less than' and in the
'amount' box, type '20'. This will bring you to
a list of all the meals we offer that have under 20 grams of

I love your mashed potatoes, what's your
secret
Our mashed potato recipe is as simple to us as it is in
your home. We wash the potatoes, boil them, add a little cream,
butter, salt and pepper, and then mash them. They are meant to
have an old style, familiar taste that everyone will enjoy.
Is it true that your meals can be prepared in only
10 minutes desktop
Yes! Each meal is prepared by our chefs and flash frozen at
the precise moment when it is ready to serve. When the meals
get to you, all you have to do is warm them back to the correct
temperature for serving. When preparing from frozen, most of
our meals reach the ideal temperature in only about ten

Do you use preservatives in any of your
meals
We do not use preservatives here in the Home Bistro
Kitchen. Our sous-vide cooking process ensures that your meals
are frozen at the peak of freshness and can last up to six
months in your freezer with absolutely no deterioration in
taste or quality. In rare instances, however, we are forced to
use an ingredient that already contains preservatives (soy
sauce for example) because the item is not otherwise available
to us. Whenever possible, we prefer to us to use all-natural

love to eat, there are few places that say food more
than France. Stretching from England to the Mediterranean, this
diverse nation of 61 million people is home to perhaps the most
remarkable- and surprisingly diverse- cuisine in the world.
Though many think of French food as a single entity typified by
the complex preparation and elegant presentation of haute
cuisine (French for high cooking), it’s actually
a collection of cooking styles that range from the classic fish
dishes of Provence to the fabled roasts of Tours, from peasant
foods like cassoulet to exquisite Boeuf Bourguignon. In the
northwest, ingredients like butter, cream and apples dominate
while southeastern dishes use olive oil, herbs and tomatoes. In

The history of good eating in France is inexorably linked to
Andre Michelin, who, in the late 1800’s, had a vision to
guide diners to the very best eateries. Michelin published the
first Michelin Guide in 1900. The Guide, then and now,
awarded from one to three stars to the top eateries. Michelin
stars are not handed out lightly. Out of 8, 900 establishments
reviewed in 2006, just 26 received the coveted three-star
designation meaning “exceptional cuisine, worth a special
journey.” Our own Chef Denis, originally from France,
honed his art at Lameloise, a Michelin-rated three-star

is. A tomatillo is a small green fruit that is part of
the tomato family. It is sometimes referred to as a
‘mexican green tomato’. The tomatillo has a
slightly sweet flavor and is available, like many fruits and
vegetables, only during the warmer times of the year in
specialty produce markets. It is most often used in
southwestern and Mexican cooking, which is why we thought it
would be a perfect compliment as the sauce for our new Grilled

The West Indies Rum Cake is a favorite in our house! We
can’t wait to eat them, why do we have to wait for them
to thaw
Any dessert that is made with alcohol does not give off the
full aroma of flavor when it is frozen. The rum cake, in
particular, seems dry if served before it is thawed not only
because of the frozen rum, but because of the amount of butter
with which the dessert is made with. The hard texture of the
butter can be mistaken as being dry when in fact, it is hard
and just needs time to soften. You sure can eat them frozen,
but we guarantee you’ll love them even more if they are

We find that your packaging is not always easy to break
down and dispose of. Do you have any suggestions or plans to
change packaging in the future
Many of our customers ask this same question, and one of
our customers has a solution for you. We recently received a
comment card from a customer claiming she loves to use our
packaging as storage containers for holiday decorations,
winter/summer clothes, and many other household items. She said
they stack easily and are the perfect size for the location in
the basement she likes to keep her storage boxes. We thought it
was a great idea! In the meantime, we are trying to implement
new ways to cut down on our packaging and use as many recycled
and recyclable materials as possible. technology
