Details Screen Menu Bar - the Menu Bar has all the aformentioned screens, controls, and features contained therein. While the Main Screns could be readily referred to as the Control Center the Menu Bar is the brains behind it and as with most software controls all the funtions that you will see in the Control Center. For those of you that read my Review of Acronis True Image Version 8.0, you ll notice the Menu Bar has the exact same family feel as was present. While not totally unique to Acronis, this certainly lessens the learning curve when from moving from one Acronis product to another. hosting

Favorable unfavorable issues

In doing my research for this review of Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 I read the product manual (which I downloaded from the Acronis website) twice and noticed that a few of the newer features contained in this version had not been completely detailed or were omitted from the latest version of the manual. Most had to do with NTFS. I did however find these areas detailed at least in part on the Acronis website. netfinity

After completing my review as not to be biased, I read every review that I could find of this product including the earlier versions of the products that make up this suite of software. I did see where some of the reviewers had detailed a very few issues generally associated with the more advance features of the product. I must state for the record that I found none of these issues to be true in the revision of Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 that I reviewed. This is by no means saying that these issues were not realized by the other authors. internet

Benchmarks are generally not associated with reviews of this type and mine is no exception. I will say that I found this product subjectively faster than other products of its type. This was especially true in the conversion, formatting, and resizing functions. I also find running a single function in lieu of a multitude of batched functions far superior as it substantially lowers the possibility of error. cheap computer

Acronis has done a truly excellent job with Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0. While I would love to say it is by far the best on the market, I did not have the latest versions of their competitor s software to compare; so a statement of that type might be a bit far reaching. I will say that the product did two things that vastly impressed this author and is rare in today s world: 1) Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 performed as advertised; and 2) Said performance was efficient and without incident. digital camera

The only issue that prohibits me from awarding it the prestigious BleedinEdge Platinum Blade award was the shortcomings I alluded to in its manual. The Platinum Award signifies that a product is perfect in every respect. I do however feel very comfortable in awarding Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 The BleedinEdge Gold Blade Award . Creating Linux Backups

Before upgrading or doing any serious tweaking to my system I always make a backup of my partitions. Having a backup image around allows me to be pretty brave as far as upgrading and testing beta packages goes. If it goes badly, I just restore the image file versus spending a half day trying to fix the mess or even worse, reinstalling. maxtor

There are four apps I really like, Acronis True Image, Acronis True Image Server, Mondo Rescue and Partition Image. If you use Grub or Lilo, make sure you create a rescue disk and have it handy before you restore a partition with either of these boot loaders, you ll need a boot disk to restore the boot manager to the MBR (see bottom of page for more details). data storage

I have used Ghost 2003 for my backups but always had problems with some of my 8 (!) computers. A few days ago I bought a Maxtor 80 Gb ext USB 1.1/2.0 hard drive. After wrestling for hours with downloads from Ghost and installing extra drivers from Ghost I finally got it to work on one computer. (Ghost works ok here most of the time, with partitions on the internal C: drive but last week one of my laptops lost the HD and of course the Ghost backup). hitachi

Ghost will not work with my old USB1 L10/10 Gb external hard drive. After spending a few hours on google trying to find an answer, and reading Ghost horror stories, I came across Acronis True Image?.0. After spending an other hour looking at reviews of that software I downloaded the Acronis software and put it on a cd. They have a special for $9.00 for users of Ghost!!! Now get this! That software works on All of my computers and even the 4 year old USB 1, yes 1 not 1, 1 ext hard drive. And it does it in Windows. rational

It is however not very fast but that is a minor trade off for me. The slow speed could be caused by my use of USB 1.1. I use XP, 98 SE, 2K. The recovery CD or 5 floppies will work on any computer or operating system or No operating system at all! So unlike Ghost you only need one recovery cd. websphere
