1. Infosys Installing Netscape 4.x

Refurbished Laptops In order to optimally view this CD-ROM, you need a compatible browser. See the minimum system requirements sections for a list of compatible browsers. If you do not have a compatible browser, Netscape Communicator 4.78 is available on this CD.

Wipro To install Netscape 4.78 on the PC, open the folder "Install Netscape" and double-click on cb32d478.exe. Follow the instructions to complete installation.

As of the release date for this product, Netscape 6.x support for LiveConnect is not functioning with the current Macromedia Shockwave 8.5 plug-in. LiveConnect and Macromedia Shockwave 8.5 are essential technologies used in this application, and therefore Netscape 6.x is not compatible with this application. You will require another compatible browser to view this application.

Refurbished This application automatically launches the default browser for your computer system. If you have Netscape 6.x set as your default browser you can still run this application by following one of the procedures below.

3. Computer Repair Starting the Program

1. Printer Changing your default browser:
   This application automatically starts in your default browser. To change the default browser for your computer system, please follow the instructions provided by your browser's help system. Please do not modify these settings while using this application as it will generate unpredictable results.

2. Xseries Ejecting the CD:
   The application runs off of your system's CD drive. Please do not eject the CD while using the application as it will generate unwanted error messages. Reinserting the CD will typically resolve the problem.

3. Maxtor Browser hangs or crashes on start-up:
   If your browser hangs or crashes on start-up, any one of several conditions could be generating this behavior.

• Data Storage Try re-installing the Macromedia Shockwave 8.5 plug-in from the Macromedia website at [http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/]. Some earlier versions of the Shockwave 8.5 plug-in are known to be incompatible with this application.

• Hitachi If you are running a personal firewall on your system, it may interfere with how this application uses the TCP/IP protocol. You may have to disable or specifically configure your firewall software in order to run this application.

• Rational This symptom can also be caused by rapidly closing and opening your browser.

• Websphere Some systems can generate this symptom via the installation of multiple versions of the same browser. In this scenario the configuration utility may read a prior version of the cookie, a version that marks the machine as passing the configuration tests. To resolve this, always delete your cookies prior to installing/re-installing a browser.

4. Battery Netscape on the PC crashes when you close:
   This is a known issue with Netscape versions 4.5 and higher on Windows 98. To circumvent the bug, open Netscape before you run the CD. Closing down other running applications also seems to help.

5. It Support Netscape on the PC reports that it cannot find a file or it takes too long to load:
   This is a known issue with Netscape on Windows 2000, Me, and NT. To solve the problem, click on the browser's Reload button.

6. Western Digital Refreshing your cache in Internet Explorer 5.5 for the PC.
   Internet Explorer 5.5 stops responding if you clear your browser cache while running this CD. It is recommended that you close and restart your browser after clearing your cache.

7. Music Installing Shockwave fails.
   When trying to install Shockwave, you get a message stating that a newer version of the Shockwave plug-in is already installed. This symptom is caused by trying to install the version of Shockwave provided on this CD when you have already installed or upgraded to a later version of Shockwave in just one browser on your computer. To resolve the problem, visit www.macromedia.com and download and install the latest Shockwave plug-in. Make sure to install the plug-in in all browsers.
