Thinkpad Builders broke ground on 1.82 million housing units at a
seasonally adjusted annual rate in August, a 3.8 percent drop from
the previous month, the Commerce Department reported yesterday.
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. bit from the July exuberance," said David Seiders, chief economist
at the National Association of Home Builders.
The housing weakness has weighed on the entire economy, helping to slow overall growth to an anemic 1.3 percent annual rate in the first three months of this year.

Gateway In an encouraging note, housing permits -- a good barometer of
current demand -- rose by 4.5 percent in August from the previous
month to a rate of 1.89 million units, the highest level since
December 2002. And, permits for single-family homes rose by 2.9
percent to a record high monthly rate of 1.48 million units.
Laptop Parts "The single-family housing market has been one consistently
positive report on U.S. economic activity over the past few years,
and it doesn't appear this trend will reverse anytime soon," said
Gina Martin, economist at Wachovia. "Though mortgage rates
increased through the month of August, they remain near historic
lows.

next few months, providing further support for residential
construction markets."
