Desktop Computer The Labor Department report shows the producer price index was in line with forecasts, rising 0.03% in January. But core producer prices, which exclude food and energy costs, showed much higher inflation figures. While the University of Michigan's index of consumer spending fell to 94.2 in early February from 95.5 in January, indicating a decline in retail spending.The two reports sent mixed signals to Wall Street Friday with the Dow slipping a point to 10,752 while the Nasdaq rose 4 points to 2065 in morning trading.The inflation figures also gave rise to the US Central Bank raising short-term interest rates by traders.
