Laptop Computer Sun said its remote computing service will cost customers $1.00 per microprocessor hour.

"The Laptop Desk can put your laptop at an ergonomically correct angle. If you travel with a laptop computer, you know it can be awkward to use it comfortably and ergonomically correct. And even though it's called a laptop, using it for extended periods of time on your lap can give you quite a burn with the heat build up. Here' - a portable laptop desk that cools your computer and makes it more comfy when computing."

Desktop Computer Data storage will cost Sun customers $1.00 per gigabyte used per month.

Notebooks Sun is powering the remote computing and data storage through grids, which are collections of servers connected to each other.

Lenovo Sun's Grid-Centers are in New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, Canada and Scotland. The Centers are Sun's initial phase of a worldwide rollout, the company said. Sun expects oil & gas and financial companies to be its first customers due to the volume of computing and data storage those industries use.

Hard Drive Sun has been telling customers that it would offer remote computing and data storage for some time. Though competitors, IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ) already offer similar services. Advertisement

Travelstar Sun Microsystems view towards remote computing is the cost of data centers themselves and their operating systems are becoming costly, which makes outsourcing of those services attractive to customers.

Gateway Scott McNealy, Sun's Chief Executive said, "As the industry continues to evolve, customers will need to move away from building data centers in a one-off customized model toward a standardized model and eventually to a utility model."

Laptop Parts McNealy's company is banking on that direction, creating new software suites aimed at the middle market. Those suites are a collection of information technology management software that it will sell to customers by subscription for $50 per employee.

Software Sun Micro's shares were trading up 13 cents, or 2.98%, at $4.49 Tuesday at 12:05pm ET when AXcess News released this story.
