Most Disappointing Game of 2004
Grand Theft Auto Advance
Published by Digital Eclipse
Developed by Rockstar Games
Released October 26, 2004
Why we chose it: Grand Theft Auto Advance was originally scheduled for a GBA launch release, but since then it underwent several delays until it finally released this past October. There was much hype behind it, and gamers eagerly awaited the GTA series debut on the Nintendo handheld. With the popularity of the console counterpart reaching an all-time high with GTA III, GTA:VC, and of course the biggest iteration of the series: GTA:SA, the GBA version promised to bring the series back to its roots on the PS1 while incorporating what made the PS2 games so much fun to play. While Grand Theft Auto Advance did some of these things, it ultimately ended up short of the gaming experience that it promised to be. With its frustrating flaws, including the big font, the unusable map, and moderate audio, as well as some other inconvenient blemishes make Grand Theft Auto Advance this year's Most Disappopinting GBA Game.
