"We know that a significant percentage of payment and document fraud cases are the result of internal mistakes and/or misdeeds," Scott said. "The greater the size and volume of corporate transactions, the greater the risk. These enhancements to EZPayManager/400 and EZeDocs/400 enable system administrators to control more tightly both general access to the payment and document output processes and to specific activities within the processes. The administrator can literally 'lock down' individual functions and subfunctions in the software by limiting access via user ID, user-defined departments, group IDs or any combination of the three."

In practice, for example, a company may wish to limit access to the EZPayManager/400 Checks module by department, such as Payroll and Accounts Payable, Scott explained. To do so, the administrator can create "departments" within the software by name, and then assign user IDs within the departments, thus creating two levels of access. An additional level can be established through use of Group IDs that might already exist on the iSeries computer, with user IDs assigned within the groups. Examples of specific functions that can be protected by limiting access include editing, deleting, renaming check templates, merge and automerge, audit log, ACH, CheckFraud Alert, Archive and others.
