Quest Software Manages J2EE Performance Issues on an Expanded List of Application Servers with Quest PerformaSure 3.5

New Support for Oracle 10g, JBoss and Tomcat Bring Leading J2EE Performance Diagnostics to Important Application Server Platforms

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2004--

Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, today announced the release of Quest PerformaSure(TM) 3.5, an application-centric diagnostics tool that helps companies tune, diagnose and resolve performance issues in multi-tier J2EE applications. Featuring new support for J2EE application servers from Oracle, JBoss and Apache, and continued support for BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere, Quest PerformaSure 3.5 enables companies to utilize its unique diagnostics capabilities to identify and resolve performance issues in complex J2EE applications, regardless of the application servers they choose.
"We are pleased to bring Quest PerformaSure's unique capabilities to Oracle 10g, JBoss and Tomcat users. Customers often tell us that PerformaSure pinpointed the root cause of a performance issue in minutes, rather than days or weeks with other tools," said John Newsom, vice president of application performance management solutions, Quest Software. "Quest Software is committed to helping businesses manage their critical Web-based applications on whatever application infrastructure they choose - from development through to production."

Quest PerformaSure is a low-overhead performance diagnostics tool for multi-tiered J2EE applications running in either live production or test environments. PerformaSure enables application support teams, developers, database administrators and quality assurance staff to measure, analyze and maximize J2EE performance from an end user transaction perspective. Quest PerformaSure 3.5 brings the unique new features offered in the recently released 3.0 version to the following new platforms: Oracle Application Server 10g, JBoss application server version 3.2 and higher, Apache Tomcat server version 4.1.24 and higher, and IBM WebSphere Application Server 5.1. PerformaSure 3.5 now also supports J2EE application servers running on Windows Server 2003 and continues to support BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere application servers on Windows, Unix and Linux operating systems.

"We at JBoss are extremely pleased to see Quest extend the PerformaSure product to the JBoss community," said Marc Fleury, president and CEO, JBoss Inc. "The powerful combination of Quest PerformaSure and the JBoss Application Server will enable developers to improve speed and performance of J2EE-based applications."

"Companies are now considering open source standards-based middleware technology such as JBoss and Tomcat as a cost-effective alternative to proprietary solutions," said Cameron Haight, research vice president, Gartner Inc. "Vendor support is an important factor in alleviating the risks in choosing an emerging or open-source technology. The availability of enterprise-quality application management and performance diagnostics tools for these platforms signifies the growing role of these open-source technologies in the enterprise today."

Quest PerformaSure is part of the Quest Application Performance Management (APM) Suite for the J2EE platform, a comprehensive solution that delivers end-to-end business views and integrated, domain-centric tools for managing J2EE performance throughout the application lifecycle.
