NetIQ Extends Service Management Capabilities with the Addition of Support for SUSE LINUX at LinuxWorld San Francisco 2004

Demonstrates Continued Commitment to Linux by Joining Novell PartnerNet Technology Partner Program

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2004-- At the LinuxWorld Conference, NetIQ Corp. (Nasdaq:NTIQ), a leading provider of Systems & Security Management and Web Analytics solutions, today announced that it has joined the Novell PartnerNet Technology Partner Program. NetIQ's recent addition of support for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 8 provides greater Linux manageability enabling NetIQ(R) AppManager(R) Suite customers to deliver higher levels of service. With today's announcement of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9, NetIQ will continue collaborating with Novell to provide management for this latest Linux operating system release. NetIQ will demonstrate AppManager Suite in booth number 1655 at the LinuxWorld Conference, Aug. 3 to 5, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
"As Linux becomes a larger force in data centers, operational support emerges as a critical factor in determining long-term success," said Corey Ferengul, senior vice president and service director at META Group(1), a leading provider of IT research, advisory services and strategic consulting. "Treating Linux as a separate technology silo requiring individual management is not the answer."

AppManager 6.0 provides the broadest and deepest management for heterogeneous, distributed IT environments. With AppManager 6.0, IT administrators can manage their SUSE LINUX-based systems as part of the overall infrastructure to meet service level commitments and enhance operational efficiencies.

"Enterprises looking to add SUSE LINUX in their heterogeneous environment need to be assured that it is manageable, reliable and secure," said Bob Lindquist, global director for partner enablement at Novell. "By joining Novell PartnerNet for Technology Partners, NetIQ demonstrates their commitment to helping customers migrate easily from costly, proprietary platforms to Novell's open source Linux."

NetIQ first introduced Linux management capabilities in February 2002. In addition to SUSE LINUX and other Linux distributions, AppManager Suite supports a broad array of Linux modules to manage Web servers (Apache, IBM HTTP Server, Sun ONE Web Server); J2EE application servers (BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere); databases (IBM DB2 UDB, Oracle RDBMS) as well as messaging and middleware servers (IBM WebSphere MQ, Sendmail).

"NetIQ's solution has been designed from the ground up, specifically to manage Linux, unlike other solutions that are repurposed UNIX management software," said David Giannini, director of cross-platform systems management products at NetIQ. "With its robust architecture, system administrators can quickly deploy and immediately begin using AppManager Suite to manage SUSE LINUX as part of their Windows and UNIX environments thereby allowing them to deliver on their service levels."

Pricing and Availability

AppManager 6.0 is shipping now and is priced on a per-managed server and application basis. AppManager for Linux modules are priced starting at $750.
