Partnering to grow mobile Web browsing in Europe: debitel offers Opera's full mobile product portfolio
CeBIT, Hannover, Germany March 14, 2006 -- debitel and Opera Software today announced a long-term partnership to grow the market for mobile Web browsing in Europe. As Europe's largest network-independent telecommunications service provider, third largest mobile phone service provider and market leader among value-added service providers in Germany, debitel will utilize Opera's full mobile product portfolio consisting of Opera Mobile, Opera Mini and Opera Platform, to deliver mobile Web access and Web applications to its customers.

This year, the two companies plan to launch customized Opera mobile browsers across debitel's device portfolio, providing subscribers with full access to their favorite sites, e-mail and other Web-based services. Customized versions of Opera will be pre-installed on debitel handsets or can be downloaded directly by the end-user.

Making the Internet available to all of debitel's customers is the central component of the long-term strategic partnership, which also includes joint marketing activities. Depending on their handset of choice, debitel's customers will be offered Opera Mobile, the full, client-side browser, or Opera Mini, the small, server-based browser which runs on almost any mobile phone. Both versions are customized for debitel's customers and include an integrated Internet search field and links to debitels partner sites. Phones with Opera Platform will come with the software pre-installed and include a collection of Web based applications presented a branded and rich user interface.
