GBA Parts Tested With DS
Prior to the DS launch, there had been a bit of speculation regarding what type of battery it used and whether or not any GBA components would be compatible with the new dual-screened unit. Lik-Sang, an Advanced Media Network partner and one of the more well known import stores out there, decided to clear the air on the subject after getting down and dirty with Nintendo's newest system.
The first subject of some controversy was whether or not the DS would use the same kind of battery as the GBA SP. It turns out that you can indeed use an SP battery in the DS, but a few small pieces of plastic need to be cut off the top of it, which is not a job recommended for beginners. However, several other GBA SP components will work fine with the DS right out of the box, items like GBA SP Multivolt AC Adapters, Car Adapters, USB Charger Cables and other Emergency Chargers.
Lik-Sang extensively tested these items to make sure they worked, so all of this news comes from actual experience. Another handy piece of news is that the GBA SP movie player works with the DS as well.
