Desktop Computer While several online music services are already available in the US and Europe, Ericsson said its would be the first fully integrated digital music service to mobile operators and the first to support co-coordinated wireless and personal computer downloads.Carl-Henric Svanberg, Ericsson's President, told reporters that in partnering with Napster the mobile operator was gaining access to the largest catalog of songs on the Internet. Scanberg called the partnership a value proposition for mobile phone operators because of Napster's library of digital music.
Notebooks Svanberg explained that mobile and pc users could download and access digital music files wirelessly. That users would have a variety of ring tones, master tones, images, wallpaper and video content to choose from. Technology analysts estimate that at least 700 million handsets are expected to be sold this year and that 10 percent of those would be music-enabled, meaning they could download and listen to digital music. Digital music companies have predicted that digital sales of music to mobile devices would account for 20% to 25% of the total by the end of the decade and sales of ring tones alone are said to be worth $3.5 billion a year now.
