1. Electronics Minumum System Requirements

3. Hardware Installation & User Instructions

Dual Xeon The main screen for the Instructor Resource CD-ROM enables you to access all the items listed in the Contents section of this Read Me. To launch the main screen, double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop, then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. The contents of the CD will appear - double-click on the file "start.exe".

Storage Alternatively, click on the Windows Start button, click Run, then enter "d:\start.exe"(if necessary, substitute your CD-ROM drive letter in place of "d") in the Open dialog box. Hit "OK", and the main screen will appear.

Seagate There are five icons on the left side of the main screen. Each icon, including any submenus, is explained below.

1. Computer Sales Prentice Hall logo
   Click this logo to open the main page of the Prentice Hall website. A browser (i.e. Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer) is required to open the web page.

2. Computer Hardware ReadMe
   Click the Readme icon to open this plain text file. It should open on any computer.

3. Printers Install
   This feature allows you to install the components of the CD to your hard drive. The Prentice Hall Test Manager and Adobe Acrobat Reader must be installed to work properly. The other items can be installed, or simply browsed (the browse feature is explained below).

Technology Click Install to open a submenu that lists the items on the CD. Click the item that you wish to install on your hard drive. Once installed, use My Computer or Windows Explorer to locate and use the files.

• Mainframe Prentice Hall Test Manager is the computerized testing program for this book. Once installed, enter "1" for User ID and "instructor" for the Password. Complete on-line documentation is accessible from the Test Manager Help menu.

• Samsung Instructor's Resource Manual consists of Microsoft Word files for each chapter. These files will install into a folder on your hard drive called "tsay".

• Computer Repair Test Item File consists of Microsoft Word files for each chapter of the test bank. It has the same questions as the Prentice Hall Test Manager. These files will install into a folder on your hard drive called "tsay".

• Used Computers PowerPoint Slides are lecture outlines in Microsoft PowerPoint. Each chapter is in a separate PowerPoint file. These files will install into a folder on your hard drive called "tsay".

• Network Student Data files are application files noted in your textbook. These files will install into a folder on your hard drive called "tsay".

• Digital Cameras Solution files are application files noted in your textbook. These files will install into a folder on your hard drive called "tsay".

4. Desktops Browse
   Browse allows you to view many of the files without installing them to your hard drive.

Cognos Click Browse to open a submenu with the items to be browsed. You can easily view the files, and print them from the Browse feature. However, you cannot edit and then save the files back to the CD-ROM. If you wish to edit files, you should install them following process in C above.

4. Internet Technical Support

Cheap Computer NOTE: Moving data and solution files from this CD to your hard drive or any other destination may cause links within these files to break. All necessary files (such as images or databases etc) are included on this CD. You may need to re-establish links in order to properly use these files.

Digital Camera A complete user's guide comes with Test Manager. It is available online after you install Test Manager. If you have a problem with Test Manager, call 1-800-550-1701 or email support@esatest.com. When you call, you should be at your computer, if possible. Be prepared to give the following information:

• Printer the version number of the product;

• Xseries the type of hardware you are using, including any network hardware, if applicable;

• Maxtor the exact wording of any messages that appeared onscreen;

• Data Storage a description of what happened and what you were doing at the time.
