China urges Iran to break nuclear deadlock

BEIJING (Reuters) China urged the diplomatic resolution of Iran's nuclear standoff on Thursday, a day after the United States warned that Tehran was defying the international community by resuming uranium enrichment. "We're extremely concerned about the status of the Iranian nuclear issue, " China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang told a regular news briefing.

BEIJING - China urged Iran Thursday to take action to end
the stalemate with the European Union over Tehran's nuclear program
and to reopen dialogue to resolve the issue.

Russia, while sharing China's opposition to U.N. sanctions on Iran, has moved closer to the West's view on referral.
