"With this strong growth, the market for GSM-based infrastructure is far from dead," said Greg Collins, Senior Director of mobile infrastructure research at Dell'Oro Group. "While many developed regions are deploying WCDMA networks and launching services, service providers are also investing heavily in EDGE as a way to provide higher-speed data services across their coverage areas. In addition, demand for more basic voice services is particularly strong in developing regions in Asia, Europe, and Africa."

( GE) fell to the No. 7 Fortune 500 rank after reporting revenues of $157 billion while Citigroup ( C) and insurer, American International Group ( AIC), followed at Nos. 8 and 9, the same Fortune 500places they held last year. International Business Machines Corp. ( IBM) held onto its No. 10 ranking in the magazine's list of the top 500 companies.
