Laptop Battery Land that would become part of a golf course resort project currently generates no income for the township, but that's about to change.
It's unclear exactly what EnCap hopes to build on the Bethlehem site, golf plan. Some residents have expressed reservations about the EnCap plan, because the company is also proposing the construction of 1, 980 residential units in Rutherford and Lyndhurst. Critics fear this will result in a need to build new schools and add traffic to already congested streets. EnCap has promised to address transportation concerns and pitched its plan as a boost to the economy.
Thinkpad The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission has authorized the executive director to negotiate an in-lieu-of-tax payment with township officials for about 100 acres that would be used as part of the EnCap Golf project planned for four Meadowlands communities. It's unclear how much the state agency would pay for the land it now owns.

Laptop Computers Parts of the land started to come off the tax rolls in October after the commission began condemning parcels under its powers as a redevelopment authority. Settlement prices are still being worked on, but officials said the agency would likely spend at least $4.67 million on acquisition costs.

Laptop Computer The land, which is not a contiguous parcel, is located along different parts of Valley Brook Avenue and had been owned by six property owners. The acreage is mostly vacant, but also houses radio towers, a parking lot, and an old landfill.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. Wisler said the development will cover about 500 acres in Lyndhurst.
Notebooks The project has been praised by some who welcome building a golf course on the landfills and reclaiming open space, but others fear the housing component could bring too many people to the area. EnCap is seeking to build 1,980 units, which would be mostly for seniors.
Lenovo In other business, the commission approved giving the township $90,000 to purchase two police cars and donating an old generator valued at $200,000.
Hard Drive Ceberio said the agency, whose headquarters are at DeKorte Park, has never paid taxes to Lyndhurst, which provides police and fire service.
Travelstar "The board felt an obligation to assist them in pieces of equipment they couldn't afford," he said.
Gateway Since last November, Ceberio estimates the state agency has spent $3.2 million on various studies, equipment, and other things for its constituent municipalities. The Meadowlands Commission has jurisdiction in parts of 14 towns in Bergen and Hudson counties.
