Kevlacat Boats
Many voyages of discovery and great human endurance have been made in catamarans. The most famous is undoubtedly Dr. Thor Heyerdahl's Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947. He traveled 3800 nm from Calloo in South America to Rarola Island in Polynesia in a 13.7-meter-long balsa raft.
While the latest wave of contemporary cats are only loose derivations of the traditional articles, they still boast the same time-honored advantages over monohull boats -- better stability, a smoother ride, more space and a greater speed over rough water.
Kevlacat has been at the forefront of the evolution of the modern-day fishing cat for 17 years. Think bulletproof vests and think strength -- at least twice that of fiberglass -- when you step aboard Kevlacat. Its Kevlar construction allows the Kevlacat to be one-third lighter than a conventional GRP catamaran without compromising hull strength.
And in the world of powerboating, lightweight means smaller motors, better fuel economy and easier trailing. Kevlacat America Inc is proud to say their Australian-designed boats are now proudly manufactured in America, using American staff and the best of American-made products whenever possible.
Series 2000This catamaran not only won Boat of the Year in Australia, but it went on to be the Trailerboat of the Year as well. It comes in two styles ... the Cuddy Cabin and the Center-Console. Owners of both styles applaud their boat because of its rugged, go-anywhere-anytime design.
The 2000 Series is affectionately known as the "Bull Dog" because it takes no nonsense from the ocean. It spacious cockpit is the envy of owners with bigger boats. The boat is well dressed with a molded nonslip floor and free sides for rod storage.
It comes standard with most of the items you have to pay extra for with the competition.
Series 2400 The 2400 will be the "Pride of the Fleet" for Kevlacat America. Its European Styling gives it a sleek, modern look. This boat comes fully equipped for the fisherman. Quality at a reasonable price!
The boat is basically a three-piece mold: the hull, the floor and the deck. The cabin is quite spacious with two generous berths both Port and Starboard. There is a porta-head, two livewells, compass, fuel gauges, tackle box, generous cockpit storage, two 17-gallon livewells, two captains helm chairs mounted on insulated fish boxes, hydraulic steering, swim platform and fiberglass hard top with targa bar rod. Cruising speed with 2-by-140-hp Suzukis develops a speed of 31 mph, burning only 11.4 gph.
This boat performs extremely well in rough or choppy water. A maximum speed of 50+ can be achieved with the recommended max power. The boat is light, weighing in at 3400 lbs. including the hard top. This lightweight coupled with the planing hull will mean lower fuel bills or faster speeds
Series 2800The serious fisherman's boat, the Series 2800, has a huge cockpit area measuring 9'6" by 7'6". This boat can be custom built to your specifications, allowing for compromises.
The 2800's cabin provides a huge amount of storage space complete with a double berth, Thetford manual flush head, red/white cabin light, under-bunk stowage.
The helm station has a tackle box, locking radio box, fuel gauges, passenger grab rails, five-piece mechanical windscreen with grab rail and plenty of standard equipment that the competition regards as merely "optional."
With a speed of 43 mph, the 2800 is quite at home in a 5- to 6-foot ocean. With one engine powering the boat with 6 persons on board, with 50-percent fuel, this boat is capable of 28 mph.
It can be equipped with a dinette seating four persons, with a drop-down table to form a small bed, a galley, transom door and extra-long (55") insulated fish-box seat pedestals. Truly a fisherman's delight.
