Laptop Battery Ike Heller has big plans for the old Industrial Land Reclamation landfill in Edison. Over the weekend, the industrial park owner mailed a glossy, 30-by-40-inch color rendering to 4,000 township households, showing them a recreation area with trails and gazebos where the landfill sits along the Raritan River.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."
Thinkpad The concept fits with the state Department of Environmental Protection's "brownfields to greenfields" initiative, as well as efforts by the Edison Wetlands Association to protect the river and adjacent wetlands from contamination from ILR and other former landfills and industrial sites.
According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.

Laptop Computers The publicity blitz, which cost Heller $25,000, brought a bemused response from landfill owner Gary Lotano, who is awaiting state approval to install a collection system for leachate from the facility, which closed in 1987.
laptop computers is driving strong sales for notebook computers, according to the latest quarterly sales figures from the research firm IDC, which reported a 37% computer sales for the second quarter, compared with a year earlier. In the U.S., laptop sales grew 17.7%, while sales of desktop computers and servers fell 4%. The New York Times ( 10), CNET ( 10)

Desktop Computer But Lotano said he's willing to entertain offers, including Heller's, for the property once the $2 million system to collect contaminated liquids from the landfill is installed.
Notebooks Edison Mayor George Spadoro already has proposed a network of trails along the river, along with a marina, restaurants and related development.
Lenovo "If that's what Mayor Spadoro wants to do, I'm certainly willing to talk to him," Lotano said. "Bottom line is, we're willing to sell the property, it's available."
Hard Drive The best approach might be for state and local governments to acquire "development rights" to the property, Heller said, adding that he will work with the DEP, the wetlands association and other interested parties to come up with funding, so the Lotano family can "feel a degree of comfort" about the prospects for a deal, he said.
Travelstar But Heller, who owns the adjoining Heller Industrial Park, wouldn't be the only one interested in the property. Members of the local Indian community already have met with Lotano and DEP officials about building a cultural center on part of the landfill site.
Gateway "We just tried to give them information" about the status of the cleanup, said DEP spokesman Fred Mumford. Although the landfill closed 16 years ago, the state never required that a liner be installed, and never approved a leachate collection system.
Laptop Parts Heller said that even after the pollution collection system is in place, the area along the river is unsuitable for "any kind of high-density, traffic-intensive development," including a cultural center.
Software Heller's 9million-square-foot office park is home to thousands of workers and a day care center, which could be exposed to contamination from the string of old landfills, including Kin-Buc and Edison's old municipal facility.
Hard Drives "We have a common goal, which is first to close the landfill properly and securely, and then to preserve this area as open space," said Robert Spiegel, director of the Edison Wetlands Association.
