Enhanced Espion Interceptor 2.0 Anti-Spam Appliance Delivers Up to 99% Accuracy
Proprietary Espion Bayes Predictive Machine Learning Reduces TCO
BATON ROUGE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 2004--Espion International, a proven leader in Internet security appliances, announces the release of the new 2.0 version of the Espion Interceptor email gateway appliance. The Espion Interceptor is a highly accurate and resource-efficient solution for blocking spam and virus threats directly at the network edge.
Available as part of the Espion secure email boundary suite for comprehensive email security, the Espion Interceptor 2.0 raises the current state of the art in secure messaging to a new level by significantly increasing the accuracy and scalability of the solution. A recent independent study performed at Syracuse University ranked the Espion Interceptor version 1.4 among the Top 10 anti-spam solutions in the world.
The Version 2.0 enhancement was achieved primarily through Espion Bayes predictive and learning software that delivers higher performance with lower processor costs. As an affordable, robust anti-spam appliance, the Espion Interceptor 2.0 off-loads processing from email servers and further reduces the threat of malicious code.
"The Espion Bayes engine, by itself, identifies over 95 percent of incoming email traffic as spam or legitimate mail without referring to any other rules," said Muralidar Chakravarthi, director of Development and Engineering for Espion. "The ideology behind its development was to achieve a high degree of accuracy in spam identification while also improving throughput. This single front-end process allows the Espion Interceptor to have a high throughput and still achieve a 99 percent accuracy rating. Coupled with auto-learning, Espion Bayes is an accurate and robust catalyst front-end engine to conventional static rules and other forms of testing."
Frank Cano, president of Valerent, Inc., an Espion/INTLX Security Business Partner, commented, "We are excited about our strategic partner's industry breakthrough because of the increased value for our customers. This partnership enables us to save our client's money while integrating best practice solutions, making it a perfect fit in our strategic initiatives. Valerent is committed to providing solutions that both reduce clients' cost of supporting their IT infrastructure and improve performance and customer satisfaction."
The Espion Interceptor 2.0 technology builds on Espion's legacy as a messaging expert and pioneer in the email security appliance market by taking the total cost of ownership lead and by changing the playing field for highest possible block-rates and protection at the network edge. Espion email security gateway appliances are designed to intelligently and securely route, store, access and manage Internet messages.
"We have raised the bar in the industry for product customer satisfaction," said Drew Burdsall, Espion CEO. "Our service and support is consistently ranked as best in the industry, which reflects our continued customer centric commitment. This is evident by the amount of repeat and referral business from our Fortune 500 customers and partners".
