Laptop Computers May 18, 2005 (AXcess News) Mountain View CA - Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) unveiled its Desktop Search for Enterprise Wednesday that offers users enterprise-level security, configuration and deployment controls as well as the ability to search the full text of IBM Lotus Notes messages.

Google's powerful but controversial new search feature, which allows PC users to search files on remote computers, has come under heavy fire from the EFF for potential privacy violations. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, a digital rights advocate, recently issued a stern warning to consumers about using an enhancement to Google Desktop that stores copies of the contents of their hard drives on the search company s servers.

"With Google Desktop Search for the Enterprise, we are giving more than 118 million Lotus Notes users greater flexibility in searching for critical business information stored on their desktop."
Lenovo Shares of Google were up $4.91, or 2.11 percent, at $238.04 by 1:38AM EST Wednesday following the announcement of its Desktop Search for Enterprise unveiling to its users.
