Desktop Computer Local scientists are worried that without a good place to nest, the healthy numbers could be in trouble, and they have devised a plan to restore the island.
Notebooks The biosphere park and an environmental group, Kids and Critters, have decided to fortify the island. The team has received support and advice on the project from Dr. Alan Johnson, a flamingo specialist who helped restore a flamingo colony in the 70's in southeastern France by constructing a huge artificial island for them in the Camargue, where the Rhone River meets the Mediterranean.
Lenovo The scientists at Ra Lagartos have proposed a $100,000 project to raise the island's sand level and reinforce its borders. The project could start in October and end by February, but financing remains uncertain.
