Finian Maynard Nominated for Sailor of the Year
The International Sailing Federation has nominated Finian Maynard for the prestigious Sailor of the Year award. The criterion for nomination for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2005 was "outstanding achievement" in the periodSept. 1, 2004, to Aug. 31, 2005. Maynard is up against sailors from all disciplines, from offshore racers to Olympic-class sailors.
The list of achievements contributing to his nomination includes:
World Record -- 48.70 knots -- WSSRC 500m course record, outright and 10sqM, April 2005
World Record -- 46.82 knots -- WSSRC 500m course record, outright and 10sqM, Nov. 2004
1st -- IFCA Slalom European Championship, June 2005
3rd -- IFCA Slalom World Championship, July 2005
3rd -- ISA Speedsurfing Grand Prix, July 2005
