Flaw in Leading Anti-Virus Software Could Put Computer Users At Risk

Many new computers come with antivirus software preloaded. month subscription to the service and important updates. Laptop Computers eEye Digital says the Symantec Antivirus 10.x and Symantec Client Security 3.x are affected by the flaw.

Notwithstanding the terms of the product license agreement included within a Macromedia branded product, when such a product is licensed through Adobe Open Options licensing program (not including Student Licensing, Site Licensing, and Term Licensing), the primary user of the computer on which such software is lawfully installed may install a second copy of such software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable computer or a computer located at his or her home, provided that the software on the portable or home computer is not used at the same time as the software on the primary computer.

Desktop Computer And if you're wondering, yes, Symantec did confirm eEye Digital's discovery and said that it was investigating. I noted today on Symantec's Web site that there was no mention of the eEye discovery.

Notebooks Even though there probably is fact to eEye's claim, investors in after-market trading did not react to the news. Shares of Symantec closed Friday at $15.99, down 10 cents but in after-hours trading Symantec's stock was unchanged.
