Web hosting Basics

Laptop Battery Web hosting knowledge, contrary to the popular belief, is very easy to acquire and understand. As a beginner , before I started reading up on the subject, I was positive that I had to do some kind of a diploma or a degree course in this area to understand and finally be able to have my own website hosted. But I was totally wrong, with guidance of only documents like this and a lot of research I hosted my website within a week. In this article I plan to share all the very basic knowledge that you must know about web hosting. If you are a complete web hosting beginner, this article is an absolute must for you. Read on.

established web hosting provider sometimes hosts up to thousands of websites. For that reason, a web hosting company need many web servers (essentially, these are computers) to store the website. And all these web servers are connected to the Internet through high speed Internet connection and housed in a physical building called data center In order to guarantee all the web servers are safe, secure and fully operational all time, 7 environment with fire protection, virus detections, computer data backup, redundant power backup and complete disaster recovery capabilities.

Thinkpad Web hosting:
In very simple terms getting your website on the internet is called web hosting. Every website that you have ever seen, or will ever see is actually stored on a computer somewhere in the world. When you type the address of that website in your browser's address bar, the website is fetched from that computer to yours. Just like that, your website will be placed on a computer somewhere too. That is known as web hosting.

> Choosing a Web Hosting Plan Choosing a Web Hosting Plan Overview There are approximately 100 million Web sites on the Internet. They are "hosted" on computers (called web servers) all over the world. The web server (computer) where your Web site's information, photos, etc. reside, may be located in a home or office, but ideally, in a secure data center, and maintained by a "web host" (like WestHost). Web hosting clients simply upload their Web sites to either a shared web server (where many other clients are also hosting), or a dedicated web server (where the entire server is their own), which the web host maintains to ensure the Web site is always available, and can be accessed quickly (a fast download).

Microsoft Web host:
The company/person who is the owner of the computer where you want your website to be stored or "hosted" is called the web host. It is the web host who offer you packages and take your money and give you hosting and their technical support.

Dedicated Server An advanced form of web hosting where the customer generally has complete control over the server. Dedicated Servers are typically housed in data centers. Dedicated servers may be compared to shared web hosting servers; where in shared hosting you find the web hosting company administering and control the server, a dedicated server is typically controlled by the server's owner and he or she controls which websites are hosted on the server.

Laptop Computers Types Of Web Hosting:
There are two major types of web hosting. Shared hosting and Dedicated hosting.
(i).Shared Hosting:
In Shared web hosting, your website is stored on a computer where there are other websites. Means you are sharing a web server with other people like you who have acquired shared hosting.
(ii).Dedicated Hosting:
In Dedicated web hosting, you acquire a full web server for your hosting needs. Which means only your website will be hosted on that computer and no one else's.

Whata s happening When a website is requested through a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc), the request is first sent to the computer's Internet Service Provider (ISP) which contacts the domaina s name servers to look up the location (IP address) of the web hosting server. Caching occurs when the web hosting server at the IP address location no longer hosts the website, but a visitor's web browser still attempts to connect to that server to retrieve the web page. This happens because the web browser and the computer's operating system keeps a list of already looked up IP addresses, and it refers to that list for future IP address look ups. ISPs also keep their own IP address list as well. The purpose of this is to speed up web page loading times, and to reduce the traffic on the Internet. Unfortunately, this can lead to delays during name server changes. The images below shows what happens when there is no caching and what happens when there is caching.
