Thomas Floyd. For simplicity, the title of the textbook will be
abbreviated to "CDA" and "Electronics Workbench" will be
abbreviated "EWB" for the remainder of this file.

Notebooks 2.1. File Organization
Lenovo The EWB files are organized into two main groups. The first
group consists of the raw, or basic, circuit files referenced by
the CDA textbook and provided as a starting point for the student
in completing the various EWB
exercises and problems. The second
group consists of solution circuits for these
exercises and problems and is
intended for use by the instructor only.
Hard Drive The basic EWB circuit file and folder structure is as
shown:

Travelstar All basic EWB circuits for Chapter 3 are contained in the
subfolder CHAP03, those for Chapter 4 in CHAP04, and so forth. Not
all chapters have a corresponding subfolder, as not all CDA
chapters have related EWB circuit files.
Gateway Note that the SOLUTION folder initially contains only the
SOLUTION.ZIP file. The various chapter solution subfolders are
contained in the password-protected SOLUTION.ZIP file and cannot be
accessed until they have been extracted. The password needed to
extract these files from the SOLUTION.ZIP file is given in the
Instructor's Resource Manual, or IRM. SOLUTION.ZIP is a standard
ZIP compressed file and can be unzipped using PKZIP, WinZIP, or a
number of other decompression utilities.
Laptop Parts 2.2. Circuit Filenames
Software The EWB circuit files fall into one of three categories, and are
named based upon their specific category and where they occur in
the CDA text. The general filenames are
Exx-yy.EWB for example circuit files, Pxx-yy.EWB for chapter problem circuit files, and SAxx-yy.EWB for application circuit files.
Hard Drives The value "xx" always refers to the chapter, while "yy" refers
to the example, chapter problem, or application assignment number.
Thus E03-04.EWB would refer to the EWB file corresponding to
Example 3-4 in the CDA text, while P05-40.EWB would correspond to
chapter problem 40 at the end of Chapter 5.
Electronics 3. Circuit Installation
Canon The simplest means of installing the EWB circuits on the users
PC is to copy the EWB folder (and all its subfolders) from the
CD-ROM to the desired hard drive using Windows Explorer as
follows:

Desktop Pc Open Windows Explorer using Start->Programs->Windows
Explorer.

Desktop Computers Expand the contents of the CD-ROM drive by left clicking on the
"+" sign to the left of the CD-ROM drive icon.

Think Pad Select the EWB folder by right clicking on it. This will open
the options box.

Repair Left click on the "Copy" option.

Data Recovery Select the target drive by right clicking on its icon in Windows
Explorer. This will again open the options box, but this
time there will be a "Paste"
option.

Cisco Left click the "Paste" option.
Keyboard Windows will then proceed to copy the EWB folder and all its
subfolders and files to the target drive.
