SecurePipe appoints two senior execs

By Les Chappell • 06/05/06 Madison, Wis. - SecurePipe, an Illinois-based provider of network managed security services with a major network operations center in Madison and more than 50 clients in Wisconsin, has announced the appointment of two new senior executives to its core management team.

Derek Reed, former vice president of sales for the Atlanta-based Internet security services company SecureWorks, will join SecurePipe as the new senior vice president of sales and business development. In addition to his experience at SecureWorks, Reed also held sales management positions at technology companies such as Lotus Development and Lanier Worldwide.

Janet Berger, former CFO of Esker, Inc. will join Reed as chief financial officer of SecurePipe. Berger has held management and audit positions at companies such as Metavante, Manpower International, and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Art Roldan, chief executive officer of SecurePipe, said Berger and Reed were selected for the positions based on the company's growth over the last five years, and because of projected growth. The company, founded in 1996, is preparing for rapid growth in the network security services field, a field in which Reed has experience and for which Berger can construct financial controls.

In addition, the company has made several acquisitions and deals that have expanded its reach and require additional attention. Last month, the company acquired Farm9, a San Francisco provider of managed network security services, and in August of 2005, the company purchased the mailMAX Managed Services Division and mailMAX email management technologies from the Mycom Group, Inc.

SecurePipe employs 49 people company wide, inlcuding 24 in Wisconsin, and it has other ties to the state. The company recently established a partnership with Fiserv, a Milwaukee-based provider of data solutions to financial institutions, and the partnership will make SecurePipe's services available to Fiserv Vision customers.

"The company has continued to roll out services nationally, and we've expanded from a Midwestern player to being a national player, given the acquisitions," Roldan said. "As you can imagine with growing the business, ensuring [that] we had the right financial controls was paramount."
