The Governor's Bold Ideas: Will They Fly?

Laptop Battery There was much to like in Gov. McGreevey's State of the State address. It proposed some surprisingly bold and drastic steps. Let's see if the governor can actually bring them off.

According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.

Thinkpad After all, McGreevey's intentions never have been the problem. The difficulty, as he himself put it in his speech, has been his "missteps." And at least with his speech, we know we're all pulling in the same direction, even if the governor's wish list extends into the realm of the unlikely.

Microsoft Among his more valiant but perilous ideas is a virtual war on sprawl. The TV cameras caught at least one official rolling his eyes and shaking his head as McGreevey outlined ways he would briskly slam developers.

laptop computers is driving strong sales for notebook computers, according to the latest quarterly sales figures from the research firm IDC, which reported a 37% computer sales for the second quarter, compared with a year earlier. In the U.S., laptop sales grew 17.7%, while sales of desktop computers and servers fell 4%. The New York Times ( 10), CNET ( 10)

Laptop Computers Among other things, towns could place a one-year moratorium on building - a move that probably will send builders into chimney-red fits of apoplexy. Developers could end up going through a long process of buying land and checking out zoning, only to have a new municipal administration step into office and stop everything for a year.

Laptop Computer But at the rate in which New Jersey is losing open space, anything that effectively halts sprawl would have to be just as drastic as this idea.

Laptop notebook computers are getting more and more popular as time goes on. The idea of replacing desktops with laptops seems to be growing by the day. As powerful, thin, and as useful as laptops are, caring for the laptop. Since laptops are portable electronic devices, they are more susceptible to damage than desktop computers. While manufacturers work to prevent wear and tear, there are still some things that should be done to help ensure your laptop lives a long life.

Desktop Computer McGreevey also talked about his ideas for auto insurance - plans that he proposed modestly, and that probably would have modest results. For all his boasts about cracking down on fraud, insurance rates have not dropped. And his proposal to charge bad drivers a higher premium still looks like it will drop insurance rates on most drivers by only a percentage point or two, while raising rates on problem drivers by 50 percent or so.

Notebooks But as McGreevey pointed out, the insurance mess didn't grow this big overnight, so no single action will topple it, unless we were to scrap the entire insurance system in New Jersey and start from scratch.

Lenovo Which might not be a bad idea.

Hard Drive Simpler to satisfy - if the political will for it exists - was McGreevey's reiteration that the Legislature include itself in the law opening up government records. When the Legislature developed that law in 2001, it neatly excluded itself from provisions classifying all government documents open for public inspection unless they fall under specific exemptions. McGreevey came into office saying that exception was unfair. He's saying it still - showing his legislative critics where to put their own house in order.

Travelstar Altogether, it was an impressive speech. He's got some interesting ideas, our governor. He just needs to learn whom to trust, whom to hire, how not to spend state money on personal business and how to stop getting in his own way.
