Fox Reaches eBay Community With Trailers, Showtimes, Props and Related Listings

Twentieth Century Fox and eBay Enter Into Marketing Agreement

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2004--Twentieth Century Fox today announced a major marketing agreement with eBay, The World's Online Marketplace(R), in which the studio is embracing the eBay community through the display of four online promotional destinations linked from eBay.com, one each for the Fox movie releases I, ROBOT; ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, TAXI and FAT ALBERT.
The AVP micro-site, located at http://ebay.avp-movie.com, features previews, showtimes, downloads (including wallpapers and an interactive desktop application), and eBay users will be able to download ALIEN VS. PREDATOR "skins" for their listings, and access special auction exclusives, including "only-on-eBay" ALIEN VS. PREDATOR numbered posters.

Fox is the first movie studio to have rich media ads on the eBay homepage linking to integrated promotional pages on an eBay micro-site; and the first film company to have movie trailers and integrated showtimes accessible on a micro-site linked from eBay.

"We are thrilled to be working with eBay, a worldwide community of more than 105 million registered users. The relationship will give us the ability to interact with eBay users, as well as gain access to frequent moviegoers," said Jeffrey Godsick, executive vice president of marketing at Fox. "We are always seeking exciting, non-traditional marketing opportunities, and this one with eBay fits perfectly with our goals to find new ways to reach new audiences."

"This agreement with Fox represents the first of its kind advertising sponsorship by an entertainment company on eBay," said Gary Dillabough, vice president of eBay Strategic Partnerships. "We're proud to offer Fox a powerful way to promote their new movies on eBay, and bring exciting movie-related offerings to the eBay community."

The four Fox pictures covered in the studio's marketing agreement with eBay cover a period from July through December, and are among the most anticipated films of 2004. The high-tech action event film I, ROBOT, starring Will Smith, is set in the year 2035, where technology and robots are a trusted part of everyday life. In this film, that trust is broken and one man, alone against the system, sees it coming.

In ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, battle each other on Earth for the first time on film. The discovery of an ancient pyramid buried in Antarctica sends a team of scientists and adventurers to the frozen continent. There, they make an even more terrifying discovery: two alien races engaged in the ultimate battle. No matter who wins, we lose.

"Chicago's" Queen Latifah and "Saturday Night Live's" Jimmy Fallon team up in the non-stop action-comedy TAXI. Latifah is New York's fastest cabbie whose skills behind the wheel and souped-up car help an overeager undercover cop (Jimmy Fallon) pursue a gang of female bank robbers.

"Hey, Hey, Hey." Bill Cosby's hugely popular character, FAT ALBERT comes to the big screen as a live action/animated, big-event feature film. The movie will be based on Cosby's stand-up comedy monologues about his childhood, centered around a group of urban adolescents growing up in a Philadelphia neighborhood.

Twentieth Century Fox is a unit of Fox Filmed Entertainment, a unit of Fox Entertainment Group.
