Desktop Computers Howard Alderson, PE, is President of Alderson Engineering, Inc. and he teaches ASHRAE certified courses on water source heat pump systems. He has been responsible for more than 15,000 tons of closed loop geothermal installations. His 20+ years of experience also includes HVAC design for health care facilities and a wide range of industrial, commercial and residential projects.
Think Pad Lynn Stiles, PhD, is Professor of Physics and Director of the Geothermal Project at Richard Stockton College. He supervised more than a million dollars worth of grant funded research on the environmental impacts of the Stockton geothermal installation and most recently been involved with the design and implementation of large open loop geothermal installations and underground thermal energy storage systems. Long active with the International Energy Agency (IEA), he represents the USA on an IEA experts group on Energy Conservation Through Energy Storage.

Monitor The Stockton Geothermal Project
Desktop Stockton's heating and cooling system is the largest single closed loop geothermal system in the world. The cooling capacity is 1600 tons. The borehole field is located under a parking lot. The geothermal loop provides water to 118 heat pumps ranging from 3 to 20 tons capacity. The Geothermal Project also undertakes research and education. Agencies like the federal Department of Energy and Sandia National Laboratories provided grants of more than a million dollars to study the energy savings and environmental advantages of geothermal technology.
