"Vodafone undertakes technical trials of emerging technologies to ensure we are well positioned to drive future research into mobile system solutions. Such programmes also enable Vodafone to respond quickly to commercial opportunities with specific market requirements should the need arise," said Professor Michael Walker, Vodafone Group Research and Development Director.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."

äodafone at Home isn° the cheapest deal on the market but it does provide an attractive package. Customers who aren° currently with Vodafone mobile might find it a step too far to change mobile providers as well as signing up to an 18 month broadband deal a long time considering how rapidly the broadband market is evolving. However, this deal is aimed at Vodafone¯ existing customers, and with a claimed 16 million in the UK, up could be high.

The mobile broadband trial will start in mid 2004 and will cover metropolitan areas of Tokyo. Vodafone will conduct field tests of Flarion's system performance, user mobility, subscriber scalability, robustness, and transparent delivery of enterprise and consumer applications over an end-to-end IP network infrastructure. The trial will use Flarion's commercially available FLASH-OFDM(R) PC card modems for laptops and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), to field test broadband Internet access, enterprise productivity applications, as well as gaming.
