Out Your Front Door

Kick off your bedroom slippers and don your flippers. When you stay at one of Grand Cayman's Seven Mile Beach beachfront condos, villas or hotels, great snorkeling is closer than the trip to your mailbox back home. It doesn't get much easier than this, just walk out the door of your vacation digs, cross your patio and step onto the beach. It's only a few strides across sugary sand to splash down and kick out to spots like Cemetery Reef. The water here is so clear and full of life, people toss bread crumbs off the beach to watch the fish jump. The bay is sheltered from most weather, so the shallow water's warm and calm most of the year.
Hot summer days are easily managed here; a simple wardrobe of swimsuit, sandals and cover-up; a daytime routine of cooldown dips in the sea followed by downtime on a comfy chaise on the patio. Sipping sweet fruit-and-rum blends while the breezes temper your skin and the rhythm of the wavelets lapping the sand calms your soul.
If time slips by too quickly, there's no worry: Seven Mile Beach faces the sunset, providing a good reason for another round of tropical drinks. After dark, head into town for some evening festivities, and then cap off the night relaxing in a beachside Jacuzzi.
Also Excellent: West Coast, Bonaire
Close-in reefs and narrow beach are the rule on Bonaire's West Coast, making this island a fabulous choice.
