Electronics Jeff Vincent, chairman of the board at Forest Lakes, said the board has done many things over the years to control the geese population, adding, this is the first year that weve addled eggs.
Canon Fred Gillepsie, a volunteer for the Humane Society has been addling goose eggs at Burnham Park in Morristown for the past three years, and offered his voluntary services to the Forest Lakes Board.
Desktop Pc While the resident goose population is small compared to the number of geese who migrate to and from the area, Gillepsie believes the resident geese contribute significantly to amounts of feces in the area because they are around much longer than just a couple months.
Desktop Computers Gillepsie believes addling the eggs laid each year will successfully regulate the amount of droppings present. At Burnham Park, Gillepsie addled 25 nests and 150 eggs this year. Gillepsie uses corn oil to keep oxygen from entering the eggs before a goose can begin to form inside.
Think Pad Vincent said the success of this years Forest Lakes addling program will not be determined until next year, but emphasized that killing geese will be used as a last resort, and only if it becomes a health problem.
Repair According to Mayor Eskil Skip Danielson, bacteria counts at Forest Lakes reached levels 25 times the permissible amount last year, causing three of the areas four beaches to be closed for several days.
Data Recovery Vincent said an instance like that is something he considers a health problem.
Cisco Some residents were unconvinced that the bacteria levels were caused by the goose population.
Keyboard Last year was a very, very dry summer and a very, very hot summer, said Hoffman, adding that bacteria could also come from other types of pollution.
Monitor Local resident and marine biology program director at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Paul A. X. Bologna, said, however, that goose droppings are a perfect median for bacteria.
Desktop The droppings sit for days and explode bacteria-wise, he said.
Infosys After much discussion, the board voted in favor of the amendment and will vote again at its open, public meeting July 14 to see if it passes.
Refurbished Laptops Even if the ordinance is changed, shooting the geese will still be a last resort, said Vincent. We dont really want to harm any geese, he said, and it would only happen when we saw fit for it to happen.
