The KIV-7M is the first encryption product that has been certified and is fully compliant with the U.S. Governments Cryptographic Modernization Initiative administered by the National Security Agency (NSA). Through this initiative, the U.S. Government has the ability to upgrade the security infrastructure of its communication architectures to meet present and future security needs.

The KIV-7M is the first ever dual-channel link encryptor that offers two independent channels in one box. The KIV-7M was in development during the last two years and meets the requirements of the NSAs Link Encryptor Family Interoperability Specification (LEFIS), which mandates modes of operation to provide interoperability. The KIV-7M meets all five Cryptographic Modernization cornerstones and fully implements all NSA Type 1 certification requirements. SafeNet began delivering product to U.S. Government sites in December 2005.
