Microsoft Dec 2, 2004 (AXcess News) Santa Clara CA - Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) raised its fourth-quarter sales outlook Thursday, fueled by growth in laptop and desktop computers, the world's largest chip-maker said.The company said sales for fourth quarter would be between $9.3 and $9.5 billion. In October, Intel had given a sales forecast of $8.6 to $9.2 billion. In a statement released Thursday, Intel said the raised sales forecast was being driven by worldwide increases in demand for the chip manufacturer's processors. The company expects to decrease its inventory several hundred million dollars during the quarter as well, shaving costs through those efforts.Improving orders will help outgoing Chief Executive Officer Craig Barrett fulfill his promise to reduce the company's record stockpile of computer chips.
