When our crew went 30 miles offshore last weekend, we noticed our GPS screen was dark. No amount of fiddling would bring it back. The sky was cloudy, and this was the first time we had to navigate back to shore with a compass. We made it just fine but a backup GPS like this 276C from Garmin would have given us everything the big chartplotter had except the screen size. Next time, we won't leave the dock without it.
