A seasoned communications executive with experience in technology start-ups, Carol Jouzaitis is Vice President of Corporate Communications for Orbitz, the travel Web site founded by United, Delta, American, Northwest and Continental Airlines. She is responsible for developing and executing communications and media relations programs and strategies aimed at consumers and key travel industry influencers. Jouzaitis brings to Orbitz more than 20 years of experience in journalism and public relations.
Prior to joining Orbitz, Jouzaitis was a Vice President of Media Relations at KemperLesnik Communications, an integrated communications firm. During her tenure at KemperLesnik, she led the development and implementation of several national media relations programs for technology companies, including Orbitz, GMV Network, Spirian Technologies and Hushmail.com. Additionally, Jouzaitis provided general communications counsel to a variety of corporate clients, including Fortune 1000 companies.
Previous to her work in public relations, Jouzaitis spent the majority of her career as a journalist in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. She served as a national correspondent in the Chicago Tribune`s Washington bureau covering the White House and Congress. Jouzaitis began her reporting career as the Tribune`s financial and airline industry reporter.
An accomplished writer and reporter, Jouzaitis has received a number of accolades throughout her career. In 1989, she was honored with the prestigious Edward Scott Beck Award for beat reporting from the Chicago Tribune. Additionally, she was selected in 1987 to receive the Clarion Award from Women in Communications for her top rated coverage of Chicago`s financial markets.
Jouzaitis received her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University
