End users, IT vendors and Linux developers come together to accelerate Linux growth
Beaverton, Ore. - September 1, 2004 - The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a global consortium dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Linux in the enterprise, today announced that it will host its first-ever Enterprise Linux Summit (OSDL-ELS), January 31 through February 2, 2005 in Burlingame, CA. Three educational session tracks over two days plus a preceding day of tutorials will comprise the Summit, which will address topics and issues around successful Linux deployment.
The event will open on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 with a keynote address by OSDL CEO Stuart Cohen followed by an ''Open Conversation'' with Linux and Open Source Software notables Linus Torvalds, Andrew Morton and Brian Behlendorf.
This unique panel will focus on the increasing importance of Linux and open source software in today's complete IT environment. Moderated by Stuart Cohen, this panel is sure to be both informative and provocative. The Summit will also feature a distinguished keynote panel on the second day: Utility Computing and the ISV Opportunity on Linux. The panel will cover practical information about where and how Linux and Utility Computing converge.
The OSDL Enterprise Linux Summit will address the needs of senior level IT managers, corporate developers and ISVs with practical education about successful enterprise deployment of Linux solutions. It will focus on how to successfully integrate Linux into their overall IT infrastructure. Conference sessions are specifically designed to provide practical solution deployment instruction for both IT managers and corporate developers alike. The Summit will also include sessions designed to help ISVs and other developers work more successfully with the open source community and build their Linux-based business.
