Frost & Sullivan Announces Newest Strategic Analysis Service: U.S. Next Generation Mobile Office Markets

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2004--Frost & Sullivan, a global leader in strategic growth consulting, announces the release of its latest Strategic Analysis Service, U.S. Next Generation Mobile Office Markets.
Frost & Sullivan analysis reveals the Mobile Office markets generated approximately $450 million in revenues in 2003.

This new analysis looks at the U.S. market opportunity for mobile office solutions, which enable remote access to desktop applications such as e-mail, calendars, contact information, and attachments. The study identifies emerging solutions that will enable service providers to capture "high-value" customers, increase Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), and create value for the customer.

"Increasing pressure faced by enterprises to enhance workflow efficiency and convert 'down-time' into 'productive-time' is driving the adoption of mobile office solutions," says Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Brent Iadarola. "Enterprises are justifying their mobility investments by demonstrating tangible ROI via time savings and immediacy benefits."

The target market for mobile office solutions is the "mobile professional" customer segment, largely composed of top executives, directors, and mid-level managers who travel frequently and rely on mobile communications to stay connected to desktop applications. Typical devices used by this segment include smartphones, PDAs, Pocket PCs, RIM devices, and notebooks.

"While catering to such a diverse customer base, it is essential for service providers to rethink and redesign their traditional sales and distribution strategy to optimize penetration of mobile office products," says Iadarola.

Frost & Sullivan research indicates that the average monthly wireless spending ARPU is significantly higher when the user is part of a Centrally Managed Business Account (CMA). Thus, it is critical for carriers to distinguish, within their installed base of corporate customers, between business rate customers, that personally pay their monthly usage fees, and those that are part of a centrally managed plan and reimbursed by an organization.
