Fathammer's X-Forge Extends to Online Gaming
Fathammer Sees Growth in Online Gaming and Adds New Features to the X-Forge Game Development System
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2004--Fathammer, a leading developer of advanced mobile game technologies and high quality games for next generation mobile devices, announced today that it is developing online features to its X-Forge(R) 2 game development system.
X-Forge Online is a server architecture and application that supports the gaming scenario where two or more devices play a game over the Internet. X-Forge Online will run on all X-Forge supported mobile platforms.
"In a multiplayer game today, the players are usually close to each other and play the game over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or some other similar technology. X-Forge Online will support multiplayer scenarios where there are a high number of players or where the players are physically far from each other. X-Forge Online helps build new type of mobile gaming communities and persistent game sessions," said Matti Airas, CEO of Fathammer.
The goals of X-Forge Online are:
-- Real-time multiplayer gaming over the Internet
-- Compatible with X-Forge supported mobile platforms
-- Community building around games
-- Flexible support for activity based billing
-- Free personal edition for family and friend use
-- Content complexity scaling
-- Wide range of game genres
-- Portable sessions for truly mobile gaming
"Multiplayer online gaming is going to grow fast among active gamers who appreciate an advanced mobile gaming experience. We see exciting possibilities for mobile device manufacturers, game developers and operators to reach new target groups and create new earning logics. Our first pilot projects of X-Forge Online will start during Q4/2004," said Matti Airas.
