SteelCloud Announces New Server Technology Targeted for Power/Thermally Challenged Environments

Herndon, VAMarch 28, 2006 -- SteelCloud, Inc. (Nasdaq: SCLD), a leading supplier of turnkey appliance servers, network security and infrastructure solutions, and professional IT services today announced it is expanding its rack-mounted and blade server lines to include the new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor LV, code-named Sossaman. The new processor is built on Intels 65 nanometer technology and only dissipates 31 watts a 70% decrease over previous generations. The new servers are targeted for organizations seeking deployments requiring high compute density, better performance per watt and lower operating costs.
The SteelCloud servers solve customer problems like

We need servers to operate in small chassis enclosures with limited power and cooling capacity.
I need servers for a poorly ventilated factory-automation environment.
Im running out of space in our equipment room and need high performance per square foot.
Our cooling system is almost running at its maximum capabilities.

The whole idea behind these servers is to achieve better operating efficiencies through improved space and asset utilization, said Brian H. Hajost, SteelCloud President. Hosting, powering and cooling todays servers has become a huge percentage of total cost. A recent study by IBM estimates that power/cooling costs in 1994 averaged about 1.9% of total data center costs. Today, that cost has risen to 12.6%. Our customers are no different. They look to us to help them create server solutions designed specifically for harsh environments where space and cooling are at a premium. This technology provides our customers with great value and industry leading price/performance per watt, so were really excited about Sossaman technology.

Servers based on the low voltage, Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor are ideal for the market segments that equipment manufacturers like SteelCloud are pursuing, said Rick Brown, director of volume platform marketing, Intel Server Platform Group. High performance, low power dissipation, and minimal space requirements are exactly what end users need for the demanding computing environments of today and the future. The Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor LV, coupled with SteelClouds technology integration capabilities, provide a compelling solution to help address these needs.
