Cons: None
- Pros: Everything I expected and more. Runs
much cooler than any of my XP 2500+ Bartons - 28C idle, 33C loaded
pretty well. All on the stock heat sink with the thermo pad
pre-applied. Even with arctic silver 5 my Bartons would run no
cooler than 42C idle until I hung a big Thermaltake 97A heat sink
on them. Am amazed at the speed applications run. Lower power
consumption also a big plus.
- Cons: I'll probably need something faster -
like maybe at 5200+ for video editing - but for this rig, it's
great.
- Other Thoughts: Running in an EpoX EP-MF4-J3
MB. 2GIG GSkill RAM, and a moderately priced ASUS vid card. I don't
game and don't OC, so don't need anything more for this box.
- Pros: Blazing fast 2 X 2.4Ghz Awwww...Yessss.
Socket AM2 dropped right into my foxconn 590SLI board with no force
(Like it should) Plays all games with not so much as a pause.
- Cons: Cant think of any other than the 2 X
512Kb L2 Cache rather than the 2 X 1Mb Cache but like others have
said this is AMD's new standard for lower end CPUs
- Other Thoughts: Rig- Foxconn C51WEM2AA 590 SLI
board, 2 Gigs of Corssair DDR2 675 C4 Ram, This CPU, a Nspire 600
Watt PSU, and 2 X XFX 7950GTs in SLI all in a NZXT Apollo
Case.......Im in heaven
- Pros: Came from a Socket 478 Intel P4 2.53
GHz. Blows the doors of that. Fast and runs cool with a Zalman
HSF.Easy install. Issue I gather with most people is the amount of
pressure you need to exert to seat the HSF.
- Cons: None really except the fact that Intel's
E6600 which is now only 70 bucks more will own a Fx-62. BUT, AM2
will at least make up for it for upgradeability to a K8L.
- Other Thoughts: I run the Zalman HSF (9500)
and my idle temps are 20-22C. At load I will occassionally cross
30C. I also have to AC 120mm exhaust fans, one of which sits in
line with the Zalman, accentuating draw.
- Pros: Unbelievable, I have never had a CPU
that was so durable. I managed to pull this bad boy out with the
Heat sink, as I am sure all of you have done at least once. My
little bro knocked the heat sink (CPU still attached) off the table
right on the CPU. Bent about 30-40 pins.... sad face... I bent the
pins back and reinstalled, with a new heat sink. Runs just as good
as ever, didnt loose any speed. LOVE THIS PROCESSOR
- Cons: none at all... well it used to run a
little hot (before the new heat sink), but what AMD doesnt....
- Other Thoughts: In a gaming comp with 4 Gb
ram, 512 graphics, all the fun stuff. Runs everything, love this
little processor. I have built around 10 comps all running AMD,
never had one fail!
Speedy Proc
- Pros: I can say this processor is quick
espically coming from a 2800+ Barton core. From the time I press my
power button my desktop loads under 15 seconds. It runs games
smoothly as well. I can run Oblivion maxed out @ 1440X900 and it
runs without a hitch. I plan to overclock it after I let it burn
in. What I'm the most happy with is how cool it runs. @ idle 25C
under load I have seen it no higher than 32C Most of the time it
stays @ 30C. My case also has good air flow it runs 25C to 30C.
This proc is a great buy.
- Cons: none solid product from AMD
- Other Thoughts: My system Abit AX78 4600+ X2
7600GT 1GB of Crucial 667 MHZ Ram. 160GB Seagate SATA II Newegg is
the only place to by parts. No other supplier compairs.
- Pros: Low on funds so I went for the price
point, running an ECS A770M-A mobo and these two low cost items run
great!
- Cons: Not the fastest processor but still
pretty fast for the $$$$.

CPU Buying Guide
- Pros: Runs surprisingly cool. Noticeable
performance boost over my 3800.
- Cons: None...love it.
- Other Thoughts: AMD or Intel I'm just glad
they both exist. Competition has given us two excellent product
lines.
- Pros: great processor. runs very cool. easy to
install chip and heatsink.
- Cons: none so far
- Pros: this cpu was an amazing upgrade from my
Athlon 64 3800+ single core. The change in performance is
considerable and very noticable
- Cons: At first i thought there wasnt any
thermal padte but then i saw that it was pre-attached to heatsink
that was provided. If only i could give this a 10 out of 5
- Other Thoughts: Great cpu for all who widh to
have a great gaming and or media rig
- Pros: fit right in no problemz intalling.vista
popz up really fast!! i thought i was losing it for a sec..i'm glad
i got this cpu before the price went up..good form amd
- Cons: huh ...i'm sorry what did u say ..con
spffff
- Other Thoughts: can't wait to upgrade i'm sure
i would be blown out my mind from the spreed. this was my first x2
build..but my girl has a x2 1.9 on her laptop and it flies...i
needed a new studio computer so i went with this cpu. runz smooth
and cool. haven't overclocked it yet but i can't wait to do
so...really no need.... ...eh well..good job amd
- Pros: cheap, dual core, easy installation,
runs very cool (cooler than the system temp! ), way better than my
old cruddy pentium 4
- Cons: didn't come with thermal grease... not
much of a con is it
- Other Thoughts: Yay!

Throw another enemy on the barbie. The Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Brisbane
makes it easy. With 2 2.5GHz cores each with their own 512KB cache,
you have the power to do anything you want. HyperTransport
technology increases system performance by giving each core a
dedicated cache of memory and reducing I/O bottlenecks by
increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.
- Pros: that I bought this CPU. Low TDP,
overclocks just great (2850MHz @ 1.35Volts). There is nothing you
can do wrong with this CPU!
- Cons: As with all other CPUs (AMD or Intel),
stock fans are quite useless. With stock fan, temp at stock speed
was 10 degrees higher - got an AC Freezer 64 Pro. Overclocked at
2.85GHz its at 45degrees under full load.
- Pros: Runs good.Less than $100. Overclocks to
3.2ghz on air.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Overclocked up to 3.2 stable.
I run it 24/7 At 3.0 100% load 45*C temp.
- Pros: Very affordable dual-core processor.
Perfect for home/office user interested in running multiple
applications.
- Cons: None.
- Pros: Cheap dual core cpu that runs cool! AMD
has some nice utilities on their website, check them out.Heatsink
easy to install, no more using screw drivers!
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Stock HS Fan works just
fine on it's own, no upgrading needed. 800 mhz memory will only run
at 700 something mhz with this cpu.
- Pros: Very nice CPU. Quick. Easy installation
with no trouble at all.
- Cons: None so far.
The Athlon 64 FX-62 runs two cores at a lively 2.8GHz with 1MB of
L2 cache per core. Built with AMD64 architecture, it was designed
to run today's 32-bit software and provide an easy migration to the
ever increasing number of 64-bit applications. And since it has two
cores, true multi-tasking is possible. So, when you run something
in the background, it's truly in the background.
With Cool'n'Quiet AMD proves that green isn't only in their logo.
This technology steps down the core clock when full power isn
necessary. This reduces the power needed for the processor and the
system which can lower your energy costs.
AMD Live! turns your system into the ultimate home entertainment
PC. It makes it easy to consolidate and manage all of your music,
video and photo files for easy viewing and playback. It also makes
it easy to view movies in one room while sending music to another
without skipping or stuttering.
- Pros: my first FX! drastic performance jump
over my old s939 a64 3000 venice. unlocked multi, so i can get
myself into all kinds of trouble!
- Cons: unlocked multi, so i can get myself into
all kinds of trouble :) it's not a phenom . seems to be
running too warm... mobo (crosshair) reports 42-45c every time i've
checked, and that's stock with zalman thermal grease on a ZM
cnps9500 am2 at over 2300 rpm... maybe it's time to reseat and try
some A.S.5.
- Other Thoughts: current pricing makes me want
a stock-pile of these... especially since my current one seems to
be running too warm at stock .
- Pros: easy to OC, i have an ABIT AN-M2 mobo
and i just changed the multiplier to 15.5x and the FSB to 203mhz
and upped the voltage to 1.475v runs at a steady 3.14ghz ON AIR!!!
used a zalman aluminum/copper hsf
- Cons: mmmm i think all the cons will go on the
mobo review
- Other Thoughts: good proc, fast fast fast!!!
USE ARCTIC SILVER setup: Abit AN-M2, AMD FX-62 (3.14 ghz) 2gb ddr2
g.skill ram, sata LITE-ON dvd drive, BFG Tech 8800 GTS OC
(310mb)(614/740) 600w cooler master psu, 250gb seagate barracuda
hd
- Pros: Fast Processor. Notice a big difference
between this and the 4600+ Windsor I had overclocked to 2.8.
- Cons: None
- Pros: I opted for an AMD FX-62 @2.8 gHz CPU
instead of the FX-64 or the AMD X2 6000. I was afraid that heat may
be a problem: The FX-64 as does the 6000, both at 3.0 gHz,
dissipate 125 watts, The FX-62 dissipates 89 watts. The FX-64 gHz
was not offered by Newegg at the purchase time. My deciding factor
was in reading online reviews of the heat problems with the 125
watt units.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: In my opinion, Intel is doing
unfair trade practices upon AMD. Intel is coercing hardware vendors
to use 90% of Intel CPUs rather than the competitor (AMD) CPUs. In
my opinion, AMD makes a better CPU and they have done quite a bit
of innovation. Intel is using strong arm tactics to keep AMD in the
background. AMD has an opened antitrust suit law suit against
Intel. Google ""breakfree amd"" to find out more info and ongoing
updates on the law suit.
- Pros: This is my fourth AMD, and I'm still not
even close to being disappointed! Unlocked multiplier gives you so
many options when it comes to overclocking. Mine's running 100%
stable at 3.08GHz (15x205) with a voltage of 1.5375, which is a tad
high, but the extra 208MHz makes such a difference.
- Cons: For me at least, not much room to
overclock. After overclocking my old x2 3600+ from 1.9 to 2.8 I was
excited to get some nice percentages on the FX. Apparently 3.1GHz
is about as high as AMD can get without the voltage shooting
through the roof, and as it is, my voltage is higher than I'd like
it to be.
- Other Thoughts: Don't even THINK about
overclocking one of these on any sort of stock cooling. If your
case has great airflow, just grab a decent after-market cooler. If
not, water-cooling is the only way to go. I have incredible airflow
in the case and an AC Freezer 64 Pro, which kept temps down to
32/39 at stock, 42-54 at 3.08GHz. The Rig: AMD FX-62 OC to 3.08GHz,

- Pros: Kingston has done it again. I have been
using Kingston for years now and it works great with my set up.
Just pluged it in and ran with it.
- Cons: None
- Pros: It's Kingston RAM and I've never had a
problem with their products. It POSTed first time, runs stable and
fast enough. Quality heat spreaders attached with solid
construction. Price is reasonable.
- Cons: I give it a 4 of 5 Eggs due to:
Advertised at 1066mhz therefore I'd prefer that it ran/was SPD
detected at 1066 and not the 800mhz that it actually is. Even with
this minor aggrivation the price and product is fine @ 800mhz. Just
don't like being told it's something it isn't *shakes finger at
Kingston* or told that I need to OC/alter my RAM to meet the
advertised ""out of the box"" performance.
- Other Thoughts: This is a fine product from a
fine company and purchased from the best company in the world
(Newegg!). The price is good too.
- Pros: 1066 memory! I use this memory thats
rates at 1066 @ 533 which is the second highest type of DDR2 my
computer can handle. I've dropped the timings all the way down to
3-3-3-7-1 @ 542Mhz and this memory really flys.
- Cons: none, its cheap, stable and fast.

photos, video, and is a webcam. The all-in-wonderful iMac takes
the aggravation out of multimedia management, and sets a new
benchmark for reliability and performance. thinkpad

Pros:
Just like Apple says, it works right out of the box. No
issues what so ever. Just plugged it in, turned it on, put
in all my info and I was set. Speakers aren t too loud,
but they re not too weak. Screen really isn t that
reflective like everyone says. The only way you really see
yourself is if the screen is completely or almost black.
Hasn t been an issue for me at all. Very very fast.
Start up is about 15-20 seconds, shut down is about 5-10
seconds. Big improvement over my PC which has AMD Dual Core
4gb RAM, etc etc. The monitor is Crystal Clear. It s
great for watching movies on. After getting off the iMac, I
got on my PC and immedietly noticed the difference in
clarity. It wowed me...=) Love the aluminum
keyboard, very comfortable to type on. Mouse is ok too. microsoft
-
Cons:
There is a small scratch at the top left corner of the
monitor, not very noticable. Con because it came like that.
Apple remote doesn t stick to either the bottom
left/right corners like it s supposed to. It tries, but
slides off. laptop computers
-
Other Thoughts:
Other than the remote not sticking, I couldn t be
happier with the iMac. I love it! laptop computer
Was Windows, Then Linux, Now mac
-
Pros:
Those of you who keep comparing this to a PC should
honestly just keep a PC. This is NOT a PC, it is a mac.
What are you paying for, because this is so expensive you
may ask The Screen is glass, as well as the innards being
less traumatic for the environment. How many LCD screens do
you see with glass You don t because its cheaper
otherwise, but bad for the environment. You also get an
operating system thats much more powerful then Windows
could ever dream to be. Most users only touch the surface,
but its made for it, others can learn to do so much more!
Just read, and explore! desktop computer
-
Cons:
They are expensive (though it is understandable).
Consider the price of a PC at these specs.. Probably around
6 or 7 hundred dollars. Then add a high quality 20 inch
monitor. As well as a bluetooth remote, and high end
keyboard. Now you ve racked yourself to roughly the
same price if not a bit above the price of the mac. Now you
start your computer and vista comes up. I rest my case. notebooks
-
Other Thoughts:
I ve been a Windows user for years, then switched to
linux for the sheer power of linux. I still like linux more
then both, simply because of the hack ability of it. Sure
you can hack macs but you hardly need to. Also dont
forget you can use Boot-camp to install windows right along
side of mac. Its free, easy, and works fantastic (user
since they started). lenovo
-
Pros:
Stable machine that is easier to use than a Windows PC.
Has very good graphics ability and less likely to be hit
with a virus. Bright and clear display and the all in one
design cuts down on clutter. It is also able to run Windows
as well as MacOSX so you lose nothing in the way of
productivity. hard drive
-
Cons:
A lot of glare from display and some moderate color
shift when viewing at certain angles. travelstar
-
Other Thoughts:
I wonder how many people that write bad reviews on the
Imacs actually have them or give them a fair chance As a
Windows PC user for 10 years..I have bought my last Windows
only based PC. Why limit yourself when you can have the
best of both gateway
-
Pros:
looks trendy laptop parts
-
Cons:
over priced unstable flimsy keyboard software
-
Other Thoughts:
I m using one of these from time to time at work. At
first I was excited but as I started to use it, it became
very annoying. This computer is very unstable. I ve had
it freeze up on me several times a week. It also gets quite
hot. The monitor at times strains my eyes because of the
annoying glare. I ve tilted it left, right, up and down
and still annoying. The keyboard is very cheaply made. The
keys are too close. It feels like a $5 keyboard for a PC.
The computer doesn t really bother me since I
didn t pay for it. This is an overpriced machine. For
the same price I can build myself a PC with a lot more
power under the hood, bigger and better monitor, kick but
gaming card and still be a couple of hundred bucks cheaper
than this Mac. I have no problems with XP Pro and Linux in
my PC. hard drives

Cons:
Bought this for our company s graphics designer

Pros:
I thought I would mind the black border but after
setting this up I really like how they did it. My wife has
the previous White 20 iMac and without the border the
bottom part of the case now looks big. My 4GB of RAM is

Cons:
I wish they would have included the video adapter for

I m hooking up beside it and I have to the Apple store

liked the 2600XT vs. the 2600 Pro video card too. infosys

love this little system. Mac OS X is built on FreeBSD with

Pros:

-
Cons:
Are you kidding me... I got my 50 year old mother her
first computer. I thought I would get her a apple because
they seem simpler if you have never used a PC, the day she
got it it had a dead pixel on the screen and it locks up
all the time.. Dont be as foolish as me i wouldnt recomend
getting this computer. intel
-
Pros:
It s a Mac! Not a lot to say here, it looks and
feels great. as400
-
Cons:
When bought from Newegg, you can t customize, major
con. There have also been reported problems with the video
card, locking up and etc. It s regarded as
fixed for OS X, but it s really a hardware
error that can hurt you in Windows. Buyer beware; your best
option would be a MacBook of some sort or a Mac Pro. averatec
-
Other Thoughts:
The best solution for buying an iMac is to get one
custom made for your specifications through the Apple
store. If you like the specs for this system, go for it on
Newegg and RAM is easily upgradeable, so don t let that
hold you back. This is the ONLY case I recommend buying
from anywhere but Newegg. It s nice they carry these,
though. hardware
-
Pros:
by far one of the best looking looking computers err
paperweights ive seen 10.4 works nicely 9.95 upgrade to
10.5 (but read below) dual xeon
-
Cons:
screen is washed out limited upgrade ability (no room in
case) PSU seems weak for system (cant confirm this as i
want to return this after reading apples forums and the
numerous complaints about the screen blurs and fading)
wasted even more money upgrading to 10.5 storage
-
Other Thoughts:
I ll admit im a long time MS user, and my wife wanted
the new iMac as they use some Macs at her work, but this
thing is a pile of rotten apple. not only did i
lose out on getting leopard for 9.95 leopard cost me 129
and is more flawed than Vista and feels slower than my AMD
X2 running Vista, Vista hasnt crashed once on me that wasnt
an Overclock / Game issue but Leopard has numerous times
and i duplicated the unacknowledged problem of data loss
moving files from the HD to an external HD the display is
garbage and doesnt even compare to a cheap 20 display
like an Acer and dont even sit it side by side with an
older mac thx to my friend bringing his older white imac
over for the side by side dont believe me look at apples
forums and search thread id# 1073705 so if u buy one stick
with 10.4 tiger as apple has even stated that theres an
issue in 10.5 dont believe me look on the internet as apple
deletes forum responses about 10.5 issues seagate
-
Pros:
Very nice quality product the very best computer I have
ever owned. Super fast OS I can t even explain how fast
this thing is you can throw anything at it and it will chew
it up and spit it back at you without even thinking about
choking. 24 screen is AMAZING 1900 x 1200 res is out
of this world. iLife is such a good software suite, it
really brings out your creative side. computer sales

Cons:
Not really upgradeable. But who needs to upgrade
something that runs so good as this does anyhow. I have
owned it since the release day and I love it 1000%. computer hardware
