When I proposed, at one of our regular Monday meetings, that we do a holiday story on fruitcake, the idea got mixed reviews. There was some wrinkling of noses; there were some doorstop jokes. But our creative director, Michael Grossman, was with me all the way. He claimed that the fruitcake his grandmother sent to his family not just for the holidays but a few times a year was so good it would make everyone a believer. He got her recipe; we tried it; and we converted the whole crew.
