Tommy Thompson will speak at World Congress on IT next May

Conference topics to include healthcare and privacy; other speakers to include Michael Dell and Colin Powell

By WTN News • 10/31/05 Austin, Tex. Former Wisconsin Governor and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson will speak at the World Congress on Information Technology at its annual conference next May. Thompson, now independent chairman of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, will speak during a panel on "Healthcare in the 21st Century."

In addition to healthcare, the other main topics will be Privacy and Security and Digital Access of Information Technology (IT). WCIT 2006's "Global Impact - Unleashing Human Potential through Information Technology" event will bring together some of the brightest minds in the world IT community to discuss, debate, and vote on actionable policy proposals. WCIT 2006 is the world's premier IT forum and expects to draw 2,000 business, government and academic leaders from 80 countries.

Other high-profile experts to speak at WCIT 2006 include General Colin L. Powell, former United States Secretary of State; Daniel Scioli, Vice President of Argentina; John S. Chen, chairman, CEO and president of Sybase; Michael Dell, chairman of the Board of Directors of Dell; Anne M. Mulcahy, chairman and CEO, Xerox; Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel; Hector Ruiz, chairman of the board, president and CEO of AMD; and John W. Thompson, chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Symantec. Other business, academic and government leaders will be added to the roster, with announcements forthcoming.

WCIT 2006 takes place in Austin, Texas, from May 1 - 5, 2006.
