Wingra Technologies updates data migration software
Laptop Battery By WTN News • 09/13/04 MADISON, Wis. Wingra Technologies announced on Thursday the release of version 2.2 of the Notes Migrator for Exchange product, helps move mail, personal address books, calendars and personal distribution lists from Lotus Notes/Domino format to Microsoft Exchange format.
The software can handle multiple users' mailboxes at a time without individuals having to intervene.
"We've learned first-hand how complex and tedious a migration can be, but this product greatly streamlines the process, and reduces the burden on the administrators responsible for these projects, said Steven Entine, Wingra's chief technology officer.
To reduce migration time, Wingra Technologies has enhanced the product to convert large amounts of archived data up to 20 gigabytes at a time which the company hopes will eliminate the need to divide archives into smaller batches. The new release also avoids manual account forwarding and mail-looping by automatically converting objects to Exchange mailboxes and setting mail-forwarding rules.
In addition, the Notes Migrator for Exchange now includes a feature that links to Wingra's on-line help database to resolve errors. Also added is a pre-migration system scanning tool that analyzes environmental configurations to make sure all prerequisites are satisfied.
"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."
