SM models are ideally suited for portable, hand-held and remote battery-powered applications because of their low power consumption. Each model draws just 30 milliamps from its 3.3 Volt power source during data transfer. There is no power consumption penalty for selecting higher speeds. Sleep and power-down modes further reduce consumption. A power-down current of just 0.2 milliamps allows operation for more than a year on a single AA battery by invoking the power-down mode when not actively transferring data.
