The Information Age of Healthcare

These industries reflect a concentration of knowledge and technical know-how related to healthcare technologies and devices. Concentration of this knowledge and know-how, however, is not confined to industries producing products and services in the device and technology arena. Exceptional knowledge and know-how about medical devices and technologies also exist in the states academic institutions, including its two premier academic medical centers. The medical device and technology collaboration between industry and academia in the state increases the knowledge and know-how of each, and enhances the ability to conceive and produce new products and services of value to patients.
Health care professionals interested in information technologys impact on improving the quality and cost effectiveness of health care should attend the Evolving Healthcare Technology Conference on Friday, November 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Medical College of Wisconsin, 8701 Watertown Plank Road, in Milwaukee.
Wisconsins health care industry is a key element in growing the economy of our state, and providing the best quality of life for our residents, said Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Cory L. Nettles. This conference will present the most current information on advancements in information technology and their impact on the cost and quality of health care.
The Wisconsin Technology Network and the Medical College of Wisconsin are sponsoring the event. Participants in the conference will hear presentations focused on information technology and its applications in regard to personalized medicine, geriatric care, patient information systems, clinical imaging, smart health care devices and health care information networking.
