John Donahoe Named President of the eBay Business Unit
San Jose, Calif., February 24, 2005 eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY;
www.ebay.com) today announced that John Donahoe has been named
President of the eBay Business Unit. Donahoe comes to eBay from the
global business consulting firm, Bain & Company, where he was
worldwide managing director. He will report directly to Meg
Whitman, eBays President and CEO.
Donahoe will be responsible for the eBay marketplace, which
includes the eBay North
America and eBay International business
units. Bill Cobb, President of eBay North America, and Matt
Bannick, President of eBay International, will report to Donahoe.
Donahoe will be responsible for serving the needs of the eBay
community and continuing to grow eBays share of e-commerce around
the
world.

1982. He held a variety of management roles in the company before
being elected Bains worldwide managing director in 1999. At Bain,
he was responsible for overseeing the firms 30 offices and more
than 3000 employees worldwide. Prior to joining Bain, Donahoe
worked for the Rolm Corporation and Salomon Brothers.
The business unit leaders will report into Salem. Thomas W. Kendra will remain as group president of the Security and Compliance Group (previously referred to as the Security and Data Management Group). Gregory S. Butterfield will continue in his interim role as group president for the Storage and Server Management Group (previously referred to as the Data Center Management Group) and as group president of the Altiris Business Unit. Janice D. Chaffin remains group president of the Consumer Business Unit.

According to the indictment, Jones would steal various IBM and Penguin computer servers from Verisign's warehouse in Virginia and sell them to Johnson. Johnson would then sell the servers to several individuals, who would sometimes place them for sale on eBay. As a result of this scheme, the indictment alleges that Jones and Johnson caused Verisign to lose more than $120, 000 worth of computer equipment. In the indictment, Jones and Johnson are charged in three counts with causing the interstate transportation of stolen property, namely IBM 330 and 335 servers, in violation of 18 U.S.C.
