Deep-Hooked

Deep-Hooked

Author: Albia Dugger
Q: We were fishing off Miami Beach, Florida, last July when we caught an 86-inch sailfish that died. We filleted it and found in its stomach two 1-pound dolphin, six very large houndfish, four ballyhoo, one goggle-eye and a 2-pound bonito. In addition, we found a leader and a live-bait hook that appeared to be encased in some form of growth. Could this be a natural defensive mechanism produced by the sailfish, possibly to reduce infection caused by the rusting hook? Or is it just a coating that will help the sailfish pass the sharp hook through its system? - Capt. Mark "The Shark" Quartiano, Miami, Florida

"Computer industry analysts estimate that some 60 percent of all corporate data exists only on desktop and laptop computers, " said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "Incorporating Acronis True Image with New Mexico Software backup server is the ideal solution to capture that corporate data and ensure that it is not lost. While traditional server backups are effective for protecting server data, every company should have a combination of server and workstation backup plans."

Thinkpad A: It's a capsule or cyst the fish grew around the hook because the metal was a foreign body irritating its stomach. The hook or leader must have been caught in the stomach; otherwise the fish would have passed the hook through before it could become coated like that. Although fish are used to eating sharp, pointy objects such as defensive spines and large squid beaks, some things just get stuck and protective tissue grows around them. Obviously the system works, since your sailfish was eating very well indeed.

And then, of course, we have the Standalone Server product, which is called Acronis True Image Server for Windows or Linux and that will manage a single standalone server. What type of computers can we back up, because in a medium to a large sized, even some small sized businesses, who knows what kind of computers they have They may have laptops, they may have desktops, they may just have anything and everything

Microsoft Many sportsmen no longer use live bait for sailfish because of the great likelihood of the sail swallowing the hook and causing injury. When a fish is hooked in the throat or stomach, the force as it fights against the line can tear the tissue, causing internal bleeding and death. Deck crews that wrap and "pop" leaders from sailfish rather than take time to carefully remove hooks or cut leaders short with clippers compound the problem. Many sailfish tournaments now prohibit live baits and require that the fish be revived before release.
